027 sing the magic mulberry

Acrylic, handmade paper, horse hair, string, silk, Barbies and Kelly’s on canvas

This piece is about transformation and love, about devotion and sacrifice and about the never-ending circle of life. In Chinese mythology, a woman became a silkworm so she could spend eternity with the one she loved. In reality, a female silkmoth lays up to 300 eggs and often she dies of exhaustion during the process. The tiny yellow eggs hatch into little black worms (kegos) and they continue the cycle.
